Extra Support to Remain Independent

If you have a loved one who needs care during the day while you are not available, Adult Day Services may be the perfect fit.

Adult Day Services is a licensed day program that provides medical, social, physical, intellectual and recreational activities for older or disabled adults who need extra support to remain independent. The program also provides periods of much needed rest for caregivers, resulting in improved mental and physical well-being. Adult Day Services is offered in Redwood Falls at the Carris Health – Redwood Pavilion.

What happens during a typical day?

Our goal is to meet the needs of each participant by offering a variety of medical, recreational and social activities from music and crafts to games and light exercise.

Adults in the program benefit from:

  • Improved health through “thinking” games and activities to stimulate mental health
  • Improved nutrition with lunches and snacks that encourage health eating habits
  • Mild daily exercise to improve strength, mobility and dexterity, which can help prevent increased disability from inactivity

Financial Information

Adult Day Services is covered by Private Pay, Elderly Waiver, Alternative Care Grant, CADI, Long-term Care Insurance and Veteran’s Assistance.

Veteran Assistance

Carris Health – Redwood Adult Day Services is contracted with the Minneapolis Veterans Assistance (VA) to provide the following services to veterans that meet the necessary criteria:

  • Nursing supervision
  • Medication administration
  • Assistance with bathing, eating, walking and toileting
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Social interaction
  • Diet monitoring
  • Health monitoring

Qualified Staff and Support Services

Adult Day Services direct care staff is trained to provide a safe and supportive environment for adults with chronic care conditions including:

  • Advanced arthritis
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Asthma
  • CHF
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Emphysema
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Hypertension
  • MS
  • Osteoporosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multi-infarct dementia
  • Stroke

Staff also is trained to aid in activities of daily living, solve problems with behavior and learn ways to best communicate with each client.

Staff is trained in basic dementia care, understanding Alzheimer’s and related diseases, helping people with activities of daily living, solving problems with behavior and learning ways to communicate.

Adult Day Services also consults with registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapist, dietitians and social workers.
