Occupational Therapy

Performing the tasks of everyday life shouldn’t be an everyday struggle. Carris Health’s occupational therapists work with you to enhance quality of life through rebuilding or adapting your ability to perform everyday tasks.

Occupational Therapy is for people who:

  • Are all ages, from birth to older adults
  • Need help with developmental, cognitive, physical or psychological needs
  • Are recovering from injury, stroke, surgery or a debilitating disease
  • Suffer from repetitive motion concerns such as carpal tunnel syndrome and “tennis elbow”
  • Have trouble engaging in learning and experiencing life

The goal of the occupational therapy program is to increase your independence with the work, self-care, and leisure activities that are important to you.

Your care plan may include:

  • teaching new skills
  • modifying activities
  • recommending and training use of adaptive equipment
  • practicing cognitive activities and neurologic retraining
  • Providing guidance and education for family members and caregivers
