CentraCare Pregnancy and Birthing Services

Find a maternity doctor and birth center in Minnesota

You're about to start one of life's most rewarding journeys. Perhaps you're thinking about getting pregnant — or maybe you already are. At CentraCare, we're equipped to deliver outstanding care at every stage of your pregnancy. It's our mission to make labor and delivery as safe, healthy and happy as possible for both mom and baby.

Prenatal care is an important part of a healthy pregnancy. Whether you choose a family doctor or obstetrician, we'll be with you every step of the way. Find a clinician to care for you during your pregnancy.

CentraCare offers numerous options for where you can deliver your baby. Your birth center location will be based on the clinician you choose and the aspects of care that are important to you, such as whether you seek a midwife or want to be near a Level III neonatal intensive care unit.

Pregnancy Planning

If you’re having trouble getting pregnant, our Reproductive Medicine program can help. We also host free reproductive seminars that cover common fertility problems and detail lifestyle changes you can make to increase your chances of getting pregnant. If you're concerned that you have risk factors that may lead to a child with a genetic condition, our Genetic Counseling program will help you better understand your risks.

Specialized Care

If you think you may be at risk for a problem with your pregnancy, CentraCare Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists serve as consultants for both low and high-risk pregnancies. Services provided include routine and advanced ultrasound, consults with maternal-fetal medicine doctors and genetic counseling. For newborns that need special care after birth, we have a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that's equipped to provide expert care for the tiniest and sickest of infants.

Preferences for Birth

We want to help you make this journey a uniquely personal experience. With a variety of options to fit your style and personality, we can tailor services to your needs. Please fill out a Preferences for Your Birth Experience form (PDF) and bring it with you at the time of birth.

Natural Approach

We strive to keep your experience as intimate as possible by providing opportunities for family bonding. We follow baby-friendly guidelines and encourage skin-to-skin care after delivery and in the operating room following a Cesarean birth. Depending on where you give birth, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of water birth, aromatherapy, acupuncture, acupressure, massage, healing touch and physical therapy.

Breastfeeding Support

We offer breastfeeding classes, support groups and lactation consultants to provide you with confidence and to answer any questions you might have.

Education Along the Way

A great way to ensure your experience is a rewarding one is to learn all you can about pregnancy and birth. We offer a variety of classes, online resources and an enewsletters. We also encourage you to download Yomingo, our app that covers pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and newborn care. The app includes a kick counter, contraction timer, feeding log, journal and more.
