Carris Health is pleased to announce Katie Borgen, PT, DPT, OCS, successfully passed the national board examination to become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS). This certification is the highest offered by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to those who demonstrate exceptional proficiency in the care and management of orthopedic injuries.

Borgen has completed more than 2,000 hours of direct patient care in the area of orthopaedics, completed one year of study and passed a written board examination. The OCS certification is held by only 3.9% of physical therapists in the U.S.

“Katie’s orthopaedic certification is a great asset for Carris Health’s strong ortho services,” said Stacey Heiling, Carris Health Rehab and Wellness manager. “Our patients benefit greatly from Katie’s hard work towards receiving the OCS certification.”

Borgen brings advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in orthopedics to the physical therapy department and has proven ability to manage patients with complex orthopaedic conditions to achieve the most effective clinical outcomes.

“I am very fortunate to work for an organization that encouraged me to pursue this and gave me the necessary tools and resources to meet this goal,” said Borgen. “I am truly blessed to be able to spend my day assisting people to meet their goals and getting them back to a more functional level.”
