Camp GK Bear | Willmar | CANCELED

Event Description

Just like so many things these days, we have made the decision to cancel Camp GK Bear this fall due to balancing the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the desire to maintain the health of all the participants, volunteers and staff.

What we are excited to offer are age appropriate activity packets and a children's grief book which would be mailed to all participants to do together with parents/grandparents/guardians. Hospice staff who have experience with children's grief will be available via email or telephone to the parents/grandparents/guardians of the child should they have any questions or concerns.

If you know of individuals and/or families that could use this information, please share it with them. If you have additional questions or would like to talk with someone about Camp GK Bear, please feel free to call Gina Jacobs at 320-231-4673. We are asking that each child still be registered in order to provide an activity packet to each child. The registration deadline is on October 15, 2021. Activity materials will be sent out within 2 weeks of the registration deadline.

Camp GK Bear is a one-day camp for children in grades K-6 who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. Our fall camp combines activities such as art and music along with grief education and support. The camp is offered free of charge to all participants and includes lunch, snacks and beverages. The camp could also benefit from the efforts of a few qualified volunteers to work one on one with the kids and help them on their grief journey.
